 Position Summary:

Responsible for insuring that the coding of all Imaging procedures is complete and accurate by utilizing HCA approved coding reference materials and CMS guidelines to assure appropriate reimbursements, and accurate and complete coding. Interacts professionally with radiologists, physicians, and Imaging technologists to clarify documentation necessary to completely and accurately code Imaging procedures.

Knowledge & Skills

Must be able to demonstrate understanding of national patient safety initiatives by strict compliance to all safety protocols and procedures as required by HCA and North Austin Medical Center.
 

Qualifications:Education:
Required
:  High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
Preferred:  Associates or Bachelor’s Degree or higher in related field from Accredited University

Experience:
Preferred:
  Two years of coding experience; Medical Terminology; Anatomy and Physiology

Credentials:
Required:
  Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist with Interventional Radiology experience OR a certificate of completion from an accredited coding program within one year of hire.

Preferred:  Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
